Moon Days: Charge of the Dark Goddess

In honor of the darkening Moon and the Crone within us all:

Charge of the Dark Goddess

"Listen to the words of the Dark Mother, who of old was called Hecate, Nuit, Morrigan, Banba, Erda, Macha, MotherNight, Sekhmet, and many other names:

Whenever you seek wisdom, at the time of the Darkening Moon, come together in love and trust and learn of Me, who am the Wisest of Crones...Ye who search the mysteries of the Earth, the secrets of Air and Darkness, of Blood and Fire, the silence of the uttermost stars, come unto me, and I shall whisper to you in the depths of midnight.

Ye shall approach Me in silence, and as a sign that ye are free from fear, your breast you shall bare to My blade...for fear has no place in My mysteries, and that which you seek of me will destroy you if you fear it.

For I am the dolmen arch beyond which stretch the mysteries of infinity. I am the silence before birth and after death. I am the clouded mirror in which you scry your own soul. I am mist in the twilight, the vast and starry sky of midnight, shadows on the Moon.

All things come to Me in the end, and yet I am the beginning of all. I meet you at the crossroads, I lead you through the darkness, My hand you grasp in the passage between the worlds. To those that toy with Me am I an instrument of self-destruction. yet to the true seeker do I bring knowledge beyond mortal comprehension.

Of you shall I demand the utter truth of all that you are, and in return shall I give you all that you may be, all that I am. For My wisdom is beyond the Ages, and knowledge of My Secrets is power over self, over fear, over death. Nor do I demand aught of you which you cannot give. For I am the Mother of Mysteries, and as you know Me, so shall you learn to know yourself."

Moon Days: Moon Child from Free People

This is a little different Moon Day today.

I will never intend for my blog to be about fashion, but when I saw Free People's trend Moon Child I had to share. I love all the dreamy colors and Seasonal Moon necklaces! People are finally catching onto the Lunar energies and I love it!

If only my closet could be solely Free People' clothing .. I would never wear sweats again...

Okay that's a lie, but not as often ;)

Love and Blessings,

Moon Days: Full Moon Silhouettes

Full Moon Silhouettes from Mark Gee on Vimeo.

"Full Moon Silhouettes is a real time video of the moon rising over the Mount Victoria Lookout in Wellington, New Zealand. People had gathered up there this night to get the best view possible of the moon rising. I captured the video from 2.1km away on the other side of the city. It's something that I've been wanting to photograph for a long time now, and a lot of planning and failed attempts had taken place. Finally, during moon rise on the 28th January 2013, everything fell into place and I got my footage." ~Mark Gee

Jaw-dropping.

Moon Days: Lunar Beauty

via
I really try to follow the Moon phases for my beauty routine. The Moon really affects our bodies through each of the different phases, so take note how She affects you. I hate to generalize, as everyone is different, but try this out for month and see how it works for you! I would love to know!

New Moon: This is a great time to start a detox or new diet or lifestyle change. The sun and moon energies are aligned and the New Moon marks new beginnings. It will be easier and your body will respond more. Get out your dandelion tincture and start adding it to your tea!

Waxing Moon: Our bodies absorb the best during this time, so drink lots of water, eat plenty of fresh fruit and veggies, and apply the lotions and potions for maximum efficiency. Want your hair to grow faster? Cut it during the Waxing moon to stimulate more hair growth. Also, I try to incorporate more movement and exercise during this energy of growing movement.

Full Moon: The Full Moon is the peak of the cycle, so this is the best time to have a facial, and applying face masks for extra potency. Be careful though, it is also said pain is heightened during this time and we are more likely to bleed more, so do not opt for surgery or painful beauty treatments.

Waning Moon: Purifying and detoxing treatments are best during this phase. Whip out your bath salts, get in a sauna, do some hot yoga, and create your own facial steams right now. Dye your hair during this time too, as it should last longer. And since hair growth is slower, pluck your eyebrows and get any waxing treatments done now too. You are less likely to bleed as much.

Astrology signs play a role too! Water signs < Pisces, Scorpio, and Cancer> help absorption; Fire signs < Leo, Sagittarius, and Aries > are better for purifying; Earth signs < Virgo, Taurus, and Capricorn > nourish; and Air < Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius > are more stimulating. Keep these in mind!

I hope these little beauty tips help! Luna is always a great guide :)

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

Moon Days: New Moon Brews

This New Moon weekend I turned my little kitchen into an apothecary cabinet. I created my tinctures on the New Moon since the Waxing Moon enhances the absorption of liquids. I brewed my own Moon-time tea with raspberry leaf, lady's mantle, and hibiscus flower- tart, yummy, and soothing- much needed on my own cycle. I created a vanilla rose bath salt blend with ylang ylang and geranium essential oils for a Galentine's Day gift exchange my friend is putting together, along with  a soothing detox mask of green clay, crushed lavender, and aloe vera powder. It's so much fun!!

I have a little extra so let me know if you would like a tin of any of my herbal creations! Contact me so we can work something out :)

What did you do this New Moon?

Moon Days: Full Moon Charging

The other night during the Full Moon, I charged a lot of stones under the Moonlight. It felt so good to get rid of some stagnant energy.

During the Full Moon, charging your gemstones is an opportune time to not only cleanse the energy of your crystals and whatever other talismans you may carry, but it also magnifies the energies of the said objects. Full Moon energy is potent with the energy of fullness, abundance, attraction, manifestation, love-- so keep in mind which stones and objects you want to amplify. That being said, you can charge objects at different moon phases for different energies you want to enhance.

This Full Moon, I charged a lot of rose quartz, moonstone, and clear quartz for the upcoming Goddess Workshop with Aphrodite, to enhance attracting love ;)

I also charged my selenite wand and tower to enhance their healing qualities as I continue to grow into my healing role.

I charged my amethyst chunks to help open my third-eye and enhance my moon readings.

And I charged my Medicine bag made by Sage Goddess enhancing the self-mothering needed to take place within me.

Moon charging does not need to be complicated. You can simply leave them out in the moonlight and go about your business. Or you can say a prayer before you let them soak. Or you can make a full ritual out of it. I lit incense and a candle, held each of the stones and said some prayers and affirmations. And then as an ultimate blessing (to me) I kiss each of my stones. Nerdy? Probably :)

What stones did you charge this Full Moon?

Love and blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

P.s. I also wanted to clarify my new feature I posted on Saturday. It is called "Full Moon" and meant to capture the essence, magic, and beauty of Luna in her fullest form. It will not only showcase Full Moon Sacred Spaces, but also sacred crafts, rituals, and recipes inspired by the Full Moon. It will be a once a month feature obviously due to the moon's movement, so if you would like to contribute please let me know! Email me at marissa (dot) moondaughter @ gmail.com under the subject 'Full Moon' :)
And be sure to check out Ally's lovely Full Moon Altar!

Moon Days: Moon Path

Source

My Moon Path has been a long dance of ebb and flow. I have gently, and not so gently, weaved her cycles in my life for years and years, yet never fully appreciated the awe and power she beholds. Simply staring at her stirs deep ancient songs within me. I am, as all women are, connected to her silvery glow through time and space. This space is vast with infinite possibility, connecting us to her ancient rhythms in this crazy modern world. She is simply my home.

I have in the past neglected this rhythm of life, ran away from home, and yet I have always gravitated towards her luminous light once again. We all wax and wane just as she does.

What does your walk with the Moon look like? What does the path look like for you right now? The Moon is a reflection of our inner worlds, where we hold our most secret desires, our vibrant fantasies, our shadowy waters, our deep pools of wisdom. So when I say moon path it is so much deeper than just our silvery mother in the sky. She is within us.

I feel I am on the verge of deep spiritual medicine on my Moon walk ahead. Deep connection. Deep detoxification. Deep healing. I am ready. My path is waxing into fullness.

Take a moment and honor your Moon Path today, wherever it may be. It is uniquely yours.

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

Moon Days: Moon Partners

my lepidolite, labradorite, dark moonstones, smoky quartz, and black tourmaline <3

This cycle, I decided to do something different. My best friend and I decided to be Moon Partners. This New Moon, we told each other our intentions for this cycle and on the Full Moon we will celebrate and see how our intentions manifested, aka Goddess Party!

Do you have a moon partner? A close friend and loved one who can witness and keep you accountable? Try it for a cycle and see how it goes!

My intention for this cycle is to create space. This is manifesting in the Apothecary Circle by clearing space in my home, and considering a different space for my blog and offerings! We shall see... everything is still unfolding <3

Moon Days: Ebb and Flow of 2012

Hey loves.

It's been awhile. Too long, as I am writing this in a Denver motel room. We are still trekking back to California and I am ready to get home. Go back to my warm and fuzzy kitty, to our bed, to all the readings I am honored to do for some gorgeous souls, to settle back in, get organized, and work on all the bazillion projects that are swimming in my head. So we are most likely driving all 15 hours tomorrow, wish us luck!

Anyway, today is Moon Day and the last Moon Day of 2012. So this is my way of Lunar releasing to welcome in 2013. You can definitely reflect and answer these questions for yourself too. <3

I am emerging

New Moon of 2012:
What did I birth in 2012? Did I try something new?

I birthed Moondaughter :) and it has been such an absolute blessing in my life. I have met and connected with so many other soulful women working towards their own soul paths and creative projects. It is so inspiring. I am so excited where Moondaughter will grow and expand this coming year. It is so exciting!

Something new I've tried? I am slowly learning to hoop dance and hope to put more time and effort into it. It made me realize how disconnected I can be to my body a lot of the time. And it's fun!

Waxing Moon of 2012:
What is something I learned?

I have learned a lot about my relationship with Jimmy. I have learned I am a super worrier, while he is way laid back; let go of the small things, it makes it way easier; building communication is key; and joking around keeps you sane.

What is something I am working towards?

In 2012 I have been working towards my MA degree in Museum Studies, and striving for balance. And both are a struggle for me. I am still learning how to juggle life, but that's probably normal.

Full Moon of 2012:
What is something I celebrated this year? Fullest moment?

I remember feeling absolute bliss when I was at the cabin in Big Bear for my birthday, with friends all around, and me drinking champagne while trying to hoop to old school rap. Fullest moment for sure for me. I am 26 and ready to take on the world.

Waning Moon of 2012:
Something I've let go of. Any lessons I've learned?

I am letting go of judgement in myself. Judgement in my work, my body, my style, my home, my interactions, my reactions, my thoughts. I feel a huge detox coming on in 2013 and ready to purge the negativity.

Deep lessons in trust. Trusting my intuition when I need to let go of situations or interactions with people. Not letting past situations dictate my trust towards my loved ones, especially Jimmy. Trusting the earth and universe to support my path and the choices I make. Trusting I am where I need to be right now. And that is okay.

I will definitely journal more about these when I get back home, but for now, this is my release of 2012. Deep love, passions, and lessons happened this year. I am grateful.

Happy 2013 to you and yours!

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

Moon Days: Moon Goddess Gallery Exhibition

"Luna" by Jessica Ward

Something you probably do not know about me is that I am in grad school for Museum Studies right now. I graduated with a double major in Anthropology and Theater in 2010. And if I ever make it out of school, I would love to work at a cultural museum in some aspect. I would love to create meaningful and unforgettable exhibits promoting all that is beautiful and unique about humanity across time and space.

So when I came across this website I really wish I could have made it up to San Francisco to see this awesome exhibit in October. All about Moon Goddesses. Right up my alley!

The image above is one of the works of art that was displayed. There were so many amazing works!

Here is a little blurb in their own words:

"I am tired, beloved, of chafing my heart against the want of you; of squeezing it into little ink drops, and posting it. And I scald alone, here, under the fire of the great moon." -- Amy Lowell

The moon has captivated people through the centuries, with her magical powers, her bright luminescence, and the strange things that seem to occur during her ever changing cycles. She is a spiritual center encouraging us to explore, evolve and find creativity in the most unique places. Some find that she is a trickster, or that of one that brings illusions that only the seerer can bring to reality. Looking up to the sky she is with us each night, as faithful as the sunshine, and lighting our way into the darkness in which we all must travel to find light again.

Having been photographed, painted, sculpted, costumed, and brought about in every medium to secure her mystical allure into eternity -- it is no wonder why we adore her presence. With this exhibition the artists have taken all her nature, and created artwork based on the "moon".

To explore a little more visit the website.

In 2013, you will be seeing more Moon Days introducing Moon Goddesses across all different cultures <3

Happy holidays!

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

Happy Moon Day everyone!

My birthday weekend was so fun and a much needed little getaway in the woods. And it still is not over yet! I have two friend dates planned and my boy got us tickets to Knotts Berry Farm! He got me a Trancas Geode that they will cut for me, along with a gift card to get some more crystals! I am so excited! I will post pictures when I get them! I am a very happy 26 year old :)

For now, in honor of the New Moon on the 13th here are some affirmations to help embrace new beginnings and cycles.

I am rejuvenated and ready to grow

I spread my wings and fly

My intentions always nourish and support me

I embrace fresh starts

My eyes are open and I am listening

I plant my seeds for soul growth

Moon Days: Full Moon Affirmations

With the Full Moon coming up on the 28th, I thought I would share some Full Moon affirmations with you all! Obviously you can write your own, but when keeping the Full Moon in mind, write about manifestation, celebration of you and the universe, and not to mention creativity and joy. Have fun with them and keep them in the present tense.

"I always manifest my intentions in tuned with the Highest Good"

"I am fertile with life, creativity, passion, and love"

"I am one with the universe"

"My chalice is full of abundance and blessings"

"I am sexy and desirable"

"I am a woman, hear my roar!"

Enjoy, and have a happy week!

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

Moon Days: Waxing Moon Affirmations

Hello lovelies,

Sorry I have been so absent lately. This season is kicking my butt. I feel like I am playing constant catch up in all areas of my life right now and having bouts of insomnia is not helping one bit. It seriously must be this Moon cycle with all the eclipses, not to mention the oh-so-fun Mercury retrograde. Oy. Please hang in there and thank you for your patience with me; I am definitely not up on my game.

Holidays are upon us and I cannot believe it is already Thanksgiving! Soon after is my boyfriend's birthday on December 4th, and then my birthday four days after! And then on to Christmas! List making is commencing this week for sure!

So I am needing a boost. Here are some affirmations to help keep your energy up and your spirit motivated; perfect for the Waxing Moon:

"I live in abundant health and energy."

"As I follow my passions, my energy is boundless."

"Each choice I make brings me balance and harmony."

"I am motivated to reach my goals with enthusiasm!"

"I take steps towards my passions, goals, and happiness each and everyday."

"I attract the motivation and support I need."

When working with affirmations it is important to FEEL they way you want to feel while saying them. If you connect these words to your feelings your brain will associate the two together and it will be easier to achieve these results! Our mind is sooo powerful!

I like to imagine my solar plexus chakra (right below the diaphragm) light up and shimmer a beautiful, bright yellow while saying these; this chakra is associated with our drive, self-esteem, and motivation, so these affirmations can definitely boost an under-active chakra and spark the flame once again.

I love this resource for affirmations as well.

I hope these can help you. And please let me know what keeps you motivated too. I'd love to hear from you all.

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter
