Moon Days: Moon Goddess Gallery Exhibition

"Luna" by Jessica Ward

Something you probably do not know about me is that I am in grad school for Museum Studies right now. I graduated with a double major in Anthropology and Theater in 2010. And if I ever make it out of school, I would love to work at a cultural museum in some aspect. I would love to create meaningful and unforgettable exhibits promoting all that is beautiful and unique about humanity across time and space.

So when I came across this website I really wish I could have made it up to San Francisco to see this awesome exhibit in October. All about Moon Goddesses. Right up my alley!

The image above is one of the works of art that was displayed. There were so many amazing works!

Here is a little blurb in their own words:

"I am tired, beloved, of chafing my heart against the want of you; of squeezing it into little ink drops, and posting it. And I scald alone, here, under the fire of the great moon." -- Amy Lowell

The moon has captivated people through the centuries, with her magical powers, her bright luminescence, and the strange things that seem to occur during her ever changing cycles. She is a spiritual center encouraging us to explore, evolve and find creativity in the most unique places. Some find that she is a trickster, or that of one that brings illusions that only the seerer can bring to reality. Looking up to the sky she is with us each night, as faithful as the sunshine, and lighting our way into the darkness in which we all must travel to find light again.

Having been photographed, painted, sculpted, costumed, and brought about in every medium to secure her mystical allure into eternity -- it is no wonder why we adore her presence. With this exhibition the artists have taken all her nature, and created artwork based on the "moon".

To explore a little more visit the website.

In 2013, you will be seeing more Moon Days introducing Moon Goddesses across all different cultures <3

Happy holidays!

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter
